The Gaint Mountains
Every corner of our highest mountain range is worth visiting and exploring. You will find every part of this small region unique and magical. The closest to Trutnov is the mountain range called Rýchory and the river Úpa valley. Come and visit us in the eastern Giant Mountains.
Choose from a wide range of destinations. It can either be a unique technical building in a conservation park, an enchanting forest, a children's adventure playground, a challenging hiking trail or a relaxing train ride.
NOTICE
When entering the Karkonosze National Park in Poland, it is necessary to pay the entrance fee, either electronically, via QR codes directly in the field or at the KPN rangers. Tourists walking along the Czech-Polish Friendship Ridge Trail do not pay the entrance fee to the Karkonosze National Park due to the border nature of the trail.

Janské lázně spa and the Treetop walkway in Krkonoše
The path through the treetops of the Krkonoše mountains – right among the treetops is located in the heart of the majestic forests of the Krkonoše National Park. On the 1500m long route, you will get to know the beautiful forests, literally from the roots to their crowns. When you climb the 45m high tower, you will have the tops of the giant trees at your fingertips.
From a small spa place of Janské Lázně you can take the ČERNOHORSKÝ EXPRESS (the cable car) to the top of Černá hora (Black Mountain), from where you can take a walk to Černohorské rašeliniště (peat bog wetlands) and you can return back down the hill on a scooter, or in the saddle of a bike following the 1st Krkonoše educational trail.
Rýchory and Dvorský forest
Rýchory and Dvorský forests are located at the highest point of the Rýchory range. It is a rare, protected conservation area with the remains of the so-called beech primeval forest, dwarfed trees twisted into bizarre shapes, with branches overgrown with moss. Set on a journey, for example from Žacléř, visit the forest and discover the meadow enclave of Sněžné domky (mountain challets).
Pecka playground
The Pecka playground is a combination of nature exploration and playful fantasy. It is located at the upper station of the cable car Portášky in Velká Úpa. A unique set of wooden interactive sculptures and objects based on the motifs of the Krkonoše fauna offers an encounter with the large-scale animal inhabitants of Czech’s highest mountains. Enter the meadow and the forest, which are full of giant salamanders, lynx, vipers, and deer. Compare your strength with wooden ants, sit on the deer's antlers, climb into the stork's nest or experience a giant ball track.
Giant Mountains beer trail
You are invited to come and try a unique sport – our gastronomic experience! One of the most popular attractions to be found within the most beautiful parts of the Giant Mountains is the annual opening of the Beer Trail where you can sample our excellent beer. This provides an ideal weekend program full of fun, even more enjoyable with a group of friends! Everything is ready and planned for you, just go, and have fun! While following the trail, you will be tasting unique beers from small local breweries. Each one has a touch of originality and its own story. In addition, you can participate in our special competition.
Pojizerský Pacifik
Pojizerský Pacifik is a railway line from Martinice - Rokytnice nad Jizerou. It swirls through the valley of the River Jizera. You are welcome to have a ride and to plan trips from individual stations. Enjoy unique views of the Krkonoše panorama, drive through a romantic landscape along a track built by the count Jan Harrach in 1898. Visit the unique railway station in Martinice, which is a national heritage site.
